VENUE OF THE YEAR 2008: Cruze

Venue of the Year 2008: CruzeCruze (Mornington) celebrated its 20th birthday last month and their win in this category highlights their longevity. They have made some significant changes over the past 12 months, but have emerged stronger and took 19% of the vote.

Not far behind was Daveys Bar (Frankston) with 16% of the vote and the Bay Hotel (Mornington) with 14%. Surprisingly, the TwentyFirst Century (Frankston) polled in 4th, despite closing its doors in February.

CLUB NIGHT OF THE YEAR 2008: Saturday Night @ Cruze

Club Night of the Year 2008: Saturday Night @ CruzeAfter winning Venue of the Year, you would expect Cruze's Saturday Night to take out the best club night on the Peninsula in 2008 and that's just what they did, beating home 24 other nights that were nominated by those who voted.

A clear runner-up was another long running night on the Peninsula: Friday Night @ the Bay Hotel in Mornington, which was as popular as ever in 2008.

Saturday Night @ Daveys Bar came in third place.

COVERBAND OF THE YEAR 2008: Crave

Coverband of the Year 2008: CraveThis was the closest category of the awards, with just a handful of votes separating first place from third place. Sneaking out on top was Crave, who have been entertaining the crowd on Saturday Night @ Daveys Bar all year long!

A couple of votes behind Crave was Olly & Scuzzi (Flanagans), closely followed by Nibbler (Robin Hood Tavern / Pint & Pickle).

DJ OF THE YEAR 2008: Marky Mark

DJ of the Year 2008: Marky MarkIn 2008, the Mornington Peninsula saw the real emergence of DJ Marky Mark. In May, he took over residency at Cruze and has not looked back since - also playing at Daveys, Flanagans and on Kiss FM throughout the year. To highlight his popularity, he earned over a whopping 31% of the votes in this category!

Polling behind the winner was veteran Peninsula DJ Chris Pettigrove (Bay Hotel / Flanagans), Sierra HIFI (Glacier Bar) and Joel Freeman (Cruze).
